The rural development minister Jairam Ramesh has lashed out at the public, who defecate in open. He has said that women in rural areas should deny to get married into a house where there's no toilet. He even mentioned that many people consult astrologists before getting married and check for Rahu-Ketu suitability, but don't look at the toilets of grooms. He even raised a slogan 'no toilet, no bride.'
Jairam Ramesh has also said that people should not be tolerated if they are found defacting in open on trains. Also, he said those who attend nature's call in open should be prosecuted severely. He even stressed that proper sanitation was related to women's safety and dignity.
