In a tragedy that occurred at a under-construction hospital, 13 laborers working at the site were killed instantly after the roof-like structure that was erected collapsed. The accident occurred at Kesnand, Wagholi not very far away from the Pune Ahmednagar highway on Tuesday afternoon.
By evening, the fire brigade and the police managed to find all thirteen bodies. Of the 15 laborers who were working at the site, 1,200 sq.ft in area, two escaped the incident narrowly missing death.
Since the incident occurred on the fourth floor of the building there was a seven-foot pile of debris that made it difficult for the fire brigade to retrieve bodies.
The building belonged to Bharatiya Sanskriti DarshanTrust where they were planning a Ayurvedic Panchakarma hospital. The site and the construction were approved to be beyond the satisfactory levels by the auditors and the building was in the final stages when the disaster happened.
