Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa documented a 13-point action plan for curbing rapes and sexual assault on women in the state. She was vociferous on the Delhi gang rapists and sought death penalty for them.
CM expressed that brutal acts must be condemned and must be rewarded with capital punishments to put a full stop even to such intentions. Notably she joins the unanimous voice of the women leaders across the state demanding a death penalty for the perpetrators.
Ms Jayalalithaa announced 13-point action plan to curb the menace in the state. The foremost on the agenda would be to set up fast track courts in each district and a daily hearing of cases would be conducted at these courts for faster results.
She was very emotional today while delivering the New Year address to the state where she mentioned, “The Centre will be requested to amend the laws to ensure the maximum punishment of death penalty and chemical castration for those responsible for rapes. The offence should also be made non-bailable.”
Ms Jayalalithaa plans to mount, close circuit televisions in all public buildings to monitor assault or advances, in any manner on women. She also announced an all women panel would be constituted to monitor the cases.
Chief Minister's nostalgic statements were in the view of the recent brutal and beastly assault on Amanat aka Damini aka Nirbhaya (not the real names) at the national capital. The victim succumbed to injuries while being treated in Singapore, after fighting for life nearly thirteen days. The state also had many protests from women in this regards.(Wishesh Aarkay)
