Eluru congress MP Mr Kavuri Sambasiva Rao said today that no state in the country should be allowed to be divided based on sentiments and emotions of people.

Speaking to media persons in Hyderabad, he said if a state is to be divided into two or three states based on the sentiments of people, the country will have to be divided into 1000 states. “There should be a scientific basis for division of states and I have no objection if a scientific basis is developed for dividing the states and the principle is applied to Telangana also,” he said.

Explaining the reasons for his absence at the Seema Andhra congress MPs’ meeting with union minister Ghulam Nabi Azad in Delhi today, he said he could not attend it due to his preoccupation with some important personal work in Hyderabad. “There is no special reason for my absence at the meeting,” he said and added that several issues relating to the state including the Telangana were discussed in the meeting.

When media persons pointed out the criticism of Telangana leaders on the Justice Sri Krishna Committee report, Sambasiva rao said that no one has escaped the criticism by Telangana leaders. “They criticize all people including congress president Sonia Gandhi and prime minister Dr Manmohan Singh,” he said sarcastically.
