Rail Roko shows hell to passengers

Rail Roko, Telangana political JACThe rail-roko agitation by the pro-Telangana groups and organizations resulted in a loss of Rs.9 Cr to the Railways on Tuesday, a SCR spokesman told media persons today.

The 12-hour agitation, launched by the Telangana political JAC and other pro-Telangana groups, also inconvenienced thousands of passengers who travelled to Hyderabad on Tuesday from distant places in the country as their trains were stopped at several places in the Telangana districts by the agitators.

SCR cancelled most of its out-going trains for the day but some in-coming trains got trapped in the agitation and passengers suffered heavily.  While the authorities transported the stranded passengers to the city by RTC buses, out-going travelers had to wait for more than 16 hours before they boarded their trains in the evening.

“It will take a minimum of 48 hours to bring the train traffic to normalcy in the zone,” said the railway spokesman.

Hundreds of agitators arrested

Police and Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel arrested hundreds of people in the Telangana region for blocking the moment of trains and causing difficulties to the travelers. Police also booked cases against hundreds of agitators.
