T-MLAs to skip the assembly session

Telangana, MLAs, assembly, bikshamaiah goud, SSC, intermediate exams, boycott, party posts, placards, gandhi statueIncreasing the tempo in support of their call for a separate state, the ruling party's legislators and MLCS today announced that they would desist from participating in the assembly meeting till such time when the Congress Party High Command sticks to its Dec 9, 2009 statement conferring statehoold on Telangana. Futher, they made it clear that they would not hesitate to take the next step of resigning to the party posts if the centre keeps dragging its feet on the issue.

Earlier in the day, the Telangana Congress members, carrying placards in the house, stopped the functioning of the assembly and raised slogans in favour of the statehood demand. Subsequently, they staged a demonstration at the Gandhi statue outside the Assembly.

The latest salvo from the Congress Party MLAs has put the Congress Party in a spot of bother at a time when the Kiran Kumar Reddy government is trying to cope up with the pressure exerted by the government employees who are keeping away from work in their demand for the creation of Telangana state.

"Though we are solidly behind the campaign for a Telangana state, we are against causing disruption to the ensuing public exams for SSC and Intermediate," said Congress MLA Bikshayya Goud.
