Senior congress leader of the T region and Rajya Sabha member Mr K. Kesava Rao announced in Delhi that they would meet the Union Finance Minister Mr Pranab Mukherjee tonight to know the fate of the Telangana issue.Cancelling the media conference scheduled for 5 PM, Kesava rao said that they would talk to the media after having consultations with Mukherjee. “They told us to wait for 3 months in view of the elections in the five states and we have waited. Now, we would like to know from Mukherjee the government’s proposed action on the demand for separate Telangana state,” he said.
Kesava rao said that they are scheduled to meet Pranab at 10.30 pm tonight and all the Telangana congress MPs would attend the meeting.
PC hints at all party meeting
Union Minister P. Chidambaram told journalists in Delhi this evening that there is no change in the government’s stand on the issue of Telangana.
He said that he would soon convene a meeting of the 8 parties of Andhra Pradesh to discuss the issue of Telangana with regard to the Justice Sri Krishna Committee’s report. “We will soon call a meeting but the dates are not yet fixed,” he said.
