Nadendla Manohar elected Speaker

Nadendla Manohar elected SpeakerMr Nadendla Manohar was today elected as the new Speaker of the state assembly. A voice vote was conducted for the Speaker’s election by the pro-tem Speaker Mr JC Diwakar reddy.

After the pro-tem speaker declared him elected through the voice vote, TDP, which had fielded Mr KE Krishna Murthy as its candidate for the post, demanded division for the election for which Diwakar Reddy agreed.

When the division was allowed, Manohar got the support of 158 members including those loyal to the YSR Congress chief YS Jaganmohan reddy and TDP candidate KE Krishna Murthy had received the support of 90 members. The suspended TDP member Nagam Janardhan reddy too voted for the TDP candidate.

Floor leaders of various parties Chandrababu Naidu, Jayaprakash Narayana, Chiranjeevi and Kishan reddy had congratulated Manohar and conducted him to his Speaker’s chair.
