Mild tension prevailed at Janagam today when the convoy of the Endowments Minister Mr Ponnala Lakshmaiah was obstructed by the pro-Telangana activists. Police used force to disburse the hundreds of agitators who demanded the Ministers’ resignation and raised anti-government slogans.

Lakshmaiah came to his home constituency Janagam to participate in several developmental projects. When his convoy moved from his house and reached the main centre of the town, T activists gathered in hundreds and obstructed its movement by sleeping on the road and raising slogans against the congress government and Ponnala.

Demanding the resignation of Ponnala, the activists asked him to support the Telangana agitation and participate in the movement. Police, who gathered in good number, used force to disburse the T agitators and allow the convoy of the minister.

After this incident, the minister’s convoy was accorded additional security to ensure peace during his participation in developmental programmes.
