The Hyderabad CID police today arrested a 25-year old woman, who has been cheating people by posing as bride on marriage websites and marrying rich people for the sake of money.

 

The police said that the lady, who claimed herself as Deepthi aka Deepthi Reddy aka Deepa, had married several people through online interaction and left all of them after pocketing their money and gold. Explaining her modus operandi, the CID officials said the lady used to advertise her photo as a prospective bride on some marriage web sites and attract rich youngsters for marriage. And after marrying them, she would run away with their money and gold and would advertise again.

 

Police said that Deepthi Reddy has been resorting to this practice for several years and has earned good money. “She has started cheating people since she was 15 years old,” said the officials, adding that she had married five persons till now and cheated all of them. “But, we have to conduct investigation to find out the actual number of people she had cheated over the years.”

 

On coming to know that she has already had two children, the police are trying to find out their whereabouts. She will be produced before the Nampally criminal court.
