Political pundits of AP asses that PRP founder-turned congress leader and mega star Mr Chiranjeevi has now no chances of making it to the Union Cabinet in the present term of the Lok Sabha with the PM clearly stating today’s reshuffle was the last rejig of his cabinet before the 2014 polls.
There is a growing feeling in the political circles that the union cabinet doors are permanently shut for the mega star. “Who knows he missed the bus permanently,” commented a congress leader who doesn’t want to be identified.
People thought that Chiru would be inducted into the Union Cabinet after he merged his party with the Congress. Reports said the actor refused to crawl to the Rajya Sabha through Maharashtra.
Later, Union Minister and in-charge of AP congress affairs Mr Ghulam Nabi Azad said in his recent Hyderabad trip that the actor would have to wait for at least another year to find his place in the cabinet.
However, in a shocking revelation, the Prime Minster Dr Manmohan Singh said soon after the swearing in ceremony today that this was the last cabinet reshuffle before the next Lok Sabha polls as far he was concerned. He also said that two berths were kept vacant to accommodate DMK nominees later as a coalition dharma.
This sends out a strong signal that there would be no more inclusions in the cabinet before the end of the present Lok Sabha from any of the states and that included AP also. So Chiranjeevi making it to the Union Cabinet is ruled out.
Chiru supporters may argue he might become a Union Cabinet Minister after the 2014 elections but there is no guarantee that congress will win the next Lok Sabha elections. Chiru therefore has to plan his political future in the state only.
However, going by the present political turmoil in the state on the issue of Telangana, no one can guarantee that congress will again come to power in the state. If the congress gives the Telangana state, it will lose out in the Seema Andhra area and Chiru’s chances of becoming the chief minster get erased lock, stock and barrel.
If the centre doesn’t give Telangana, Chiru’s political fortunes are linked to the downfall of TDP and YSR Congress in the Seema Andhra area which is unlikely.
Will the poor Chiru find some road to move on politically?
