In a major disappointment to the mega star Chiranjeevi, the proposed public meeting aimed at formalizing the PRP merger with the congress party has been cancelled at the instance of the party president Sonia Gandhi.
The congress high command reportedly took the decision to cancel the proposed meeting in view of the disturbing situation in the state in the back drop of anti and pro-Telangana agitations.
Chiranjeevi will now take the membership of the congress party in the presence of Sonia Gandhi in Delhi in the next two or three days while MLAs and other leaders will join the party at Gandhi Bhavan in Hyderabad. Sources said the district level PRP leaders will join the congress party in DCC offices.
The decision comes as a major disappointment to Chiranjeevi as he planned a mega pubic meeting with Sonia Gandhi or Rahul Gandhi as chief guest either at Tirupati or Guntur. “Chiru wanted to see a bigger gathering of people at the meeting than the crowd witnessed at the launching of the YSR Congress party but now he is disappointed,” said a leader close to Chiru.
