With a view to increase the revenues, the TTD Specified Authority decided to dispose off its reserves of human hair through e-auctions.

The officials have decided to utilize the services of the Visakhapatnam based Central Government organization, the Metal Scrap Trading Corporation, in selling the hair through e-auctions.

E-auctions will enable the TTD invite global tenders world wide for the vast reserves of hair left by the devotees of Lord Venkateswara to redeem their vows to the Lord.

As a first step, the authorities have decided to fix a floor price of Rs.12, 000 per kg for the first grade hair of 31-inch length, Rs.11, 000 per kg for the second grade hair of length ranging from 16 to 30 inches and Rs.9000 per kg for the third grade hair of length falling between 10 and 15 inches.

The authorities said that the present reserves of hair with the TTD are estimated at 4, 71,099 kg which is likely to go up further as the days go by.
