According to Saroor-nagar police, a cab driver stabbed his wife with a vegetable knife over a petty issue in Kodandarama nagar un-der Saroornagar police station limits on Friday morning. The woman died instantly.

The accused Mujeebuddin, a driver of a private cab had met with an accident few months ago and got himself confined to home. On Friday, while chopping vegetables, Mujeeb-uddin had an argument with his wife Md Bhanu, 40, over household expenses and stabbed her with the knife in a fit of rage.

Md Bhanu succumbed to the injury and died on the spot, said police officials. The couple had three sons and two daughters. “We have registered a murder case and took the accused in custody at his Kodandarama Nagar residence,’’ inspector of Saroornagar police station, Mr K. Purnachan-dra Rao said.
