The Supreme Court today said that the vault B in the cellars of the Sree Ananthapadmanabha Swamy temple in Thiruvananthapuram should not be opened till an integrated and multi-layered security cover is provided to protect the temple wealth.
Delivering its order on the contentious issue of opening the vault, the apex court said that it was happy with the assurances of the state government on providing security to the temple and its wealth.
The court directed the expert committee to go ahead with the preservation and conservation of the wealth found in other vaults earlier. It may be mentioned that gold jewelry worth over Rs.1 lakh was found in the secret chambers of the temple’s cellar.
