32 TDP T MLAs submit quit letters

TelanganaTDPRaising curtains for another scene in the drama of resignations, 32 MLAs of the TDP belonging to the Telangana region today submitted their resignations from the assembly to press the demand for formation of separate state of Telangana.

They have individually handed over their quit letters to the Assembly Secretary in the absence of the Speaker Nadendla Manohar in his chambers. “We have submitted the resignations in the Speaker format and we hope they will be accepted,” said the TDP leaders.

Kamareddy TDP MLA Mr Gampa Govardhan, who met the TRS chief Mr KCR on Tuesday in his party office and offered to join the TRS, did not accompany the TDP MLAs who went to the assembly to meet the Speaker earlier.

The TDP MLAs debated over the issue of resignations early this morning and some of them suggested that they should quit after the T congress MLAs submit their resignations but ultimately all of them decided in unison to quit first and hand over the resignations to the Speaker.

They waited for a long time to meet the Speaker and finally handed over the quit letters to the Assembly Secretary as Manohar was not available.

TDP MLAs of the T region are suggesting from the very beginning that MLAs of all political parties of the Telangana including those of the TRS should resign for the sake of Telangana but not contest again in  the by elections.

They have accused the TRS of forcing the resignations of others party MLAs with a view to increase their strength in the assembly by contesting the by polls. “This way, they can’t bring Telangana,” the Telangana Forum of the TDP said in a statement.
