AP Congress leader and Tirupati MLA Mr Chiranjeevi today met party general secretary Mr Rahul Gandhi in Delhi at his residence and held consultations on the issues concerning the state.
Chiranjeevi later told media persons that he had apprised Rahul Gandhi of the prevailing political situation in AP and requested him to take immediate steps to solve the Telangana issue.
“I told him Centre should act immediately on Telangana as the political situation has reached a flash point in the state following the mass general strike by more than four lakh Telangana employees,” said the mega star.
Chiranjeevi has also brought the problems of the farmers in the state to the notice of Rahul Gandhi and asked him to direct the Centre to pay attention to them on priority basis.
Core committee meeting
Meanwhile, some members of the congress party core committee are secheduled to meet shortly from now in the North Block.
Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, Health Minister and in charge of AP congress affairs Mr Ghulam Nabi Azad and Mr Ahmad Patel, political secretary to the congress president Sonia Gandhi, will meet and discuss the Telangana issue.
