Even as majority of employees’ unions have opted out of the Telangana agitation and resumed duties, state government employees are also set to fall in line and report for duty today or tomorrow as they have agreed in principle to call off the strike.
In their talks with the cabinet sub committee on Wednesday, the union leaders said they would call off the strike if the state Government agrees to pay salaries for the strike period.
The Ministers’ Sub Committee accepted the request but said it would explore other options to pay the amount of salaries to the employees since the AP High Court directed the government to implement the ‘no work no pay’ principle as per the GO no 177.
The government is therefore exploring the possibilities of paying the salaries in shape of festival advance or salary advance or adjusting the striking days against the leave of the employees.
From today, thousands of lecturers are resuming their duties after their unions have decided to call off the strike.
