Well known Telugu writer Avasarala Ramakrishna Rao, who carved a niche for himself in the Telugu fiction world with his unique style of comedy presentation, passed away of heart problems at NIMS in Hyderabad today. He was 80.
Born in Chennai on December 21, 1931, Ramakrishna Rao has completed 60 years as a writer. He started writing at the age of 16 and continued the profession till 2004.
‘Sampengalu-Sannajajulu’ was the most acclaimed of all his novels in Telugu and most of his writings unveiled the need to bring in women’s liberation. His first piece of fiction, a story called ‘Potti Pitchuka Katha’, was published in 1941 in the monthly magazine ‘Chandamama’, a household name in AP.
Avasarala worked as English lecturer for several years but continued with his passion of writing in Telugu for more than six decades.
