Petition filed on Kirans eligibility as CM

Former TDP leader of the Telangana region and MLA Mr Venugopalachari today filed a petition in the high court alleging that the chief minister Kirankumar reddy has lost eligibility to continue in the post as he doesn’t enjoy majority in the assembly.

Observing that Kirankumar reddy has the support of only 143 members in the assembly falling short by 4 members for the simple majority of 147 in a house of 294 members to continue in the CM post, the MLA sought a direction from the court to the CM to prove his majority on the floor.

“This is necessary as the government has slipped into minority,” argued Mr Venugopalachari in his petition.

The court said it would decide the fate of the petition later and listed the matter for tomorrow for hearing.

The petitioner included the TDP and the Union Home Ministry as the respondents in his petition. Earlier, while participating in a TV channel discussion, Venugopalachari charged the Governor of acting as the agent of the congress party and demanded the CM to quit as he has lost majority in the house after the three Congress MLAs have defected to the TRS.
