Close on the heels of an accident in which six students and a teacher were drowned in the Godavari River at Kakaraparru village of Peravali Mandalam in West Godavari district during a picnic on Sunday, three girls drowned in the waters of the Sarada River at Muddurthi in Chodavaram Mandalam of Visakhapatnam district on Monday.
The girls, students of high school in Chodavarm, went for a Karthika Masam bath in the river. They were dragged deep inside by the swirling waters of the overflowing river.
The girls were identified as B.Sandhya, 11, B.Hemalatha,10 and N. Hindu, 8, according to police. Their bodies have been recovered and handed over to their parents.
