The CBI sleuths have arrested the former vice-chairman and MD of AP Mineral Development Corporation Mr V.D. Rajagopal for his role in the illegal mining activities resorted to by the former Karnataka Minister Mr Gali Janardhan reddy.
Rajagopal was called for questioning by the CBI Saturday morning and the investigating agency grilled him till midnight when the arrest was announced. CBI produced him before a magistrate Sunday morning. The CBI officials said he would be produced before the special CBI court at Nampally in Hyderabad today.
The arrest of Rajagopal was the third in the illegal mining case and earlier, Gali Janardhan reddy and his brother-in-law Mr BV Srinivasa reddy were arrested on Sep 5. The CBI may next concentrate on IAS officer Srilakshmi for her role in the scam. She is presently on leave and is resting at her sister’s residence in Chennai.
There is even speculation that YSR Congress President Mr YS Jaganmohan reddy’s arrest could be next as some mining business men gave affidavits against him in the illegal mining case. Everyone is expecting the CBI to arrest Jagan in his illegal properties case. However, the CBI may surprise the media and others by arresting Jagan in the illegal mining case.
