The high court of AP today ordered the CBI to conduct a preliminary investigation into the alleged illegal wealth accumulated by the former chief minister and TDP Chief Mr Chandrababu Naidu misusing his official position as Chief Minister in the past.
The Division Bench, consisting of the acting Chief Justice Ghulam Mohammed and Justice Nooty Ramamohana Rao, directed the investigating agency to investigate the properties of Chandrababu Naidu based on an IPL filed by the Pulivendula YSR congress MLA Ms YS Vijayamma and submit its report in sealed cover with in three months.
She alleged irregularities in the allotment of various lands to corporate companies during the regime of Chandrababu.
The court also directed the Enforcement Directorate and SEBI along with the CBI to investigate various deals wherever necessary by taking into consideration 2,000 papers submitted by the petitioner.
“Naidu amassed wealth with the help of media group owner Ch. Ramoji Rao and defrauded the State exchequer to the tune of hundreds of crores of rupees and their actions should be investigated,” she urged the court.
“We are of the opinion that petitioner made out a case of misuse and/or abuse of power and also actions of indulgence by respondent No 8 (Mr. Naidu) warranting admission of the writ petition,” said the bench while directing the investigating agencies to conduct the preliminary probe.
