CBI grills Bhanu on VANPIC project

CBI officials, who have noted a huge difference between the Cabinet approved agreement on the VANPIC (Vadarevu and Nizampatnam Port and Industrial Corridor) project and the actual agreement entered into with the VANPIC promoters, questioned IAS officer MGVK Bhanu about it on Sunday.

The Government first decided to allot 11,000 acres for the VANPIC project but later it was increased to 28,000 acres when the agreement was made with the promoters.

The VANPIC project plays a key role in the alleged illegal properties case of YSR Congress president YS Jaganmohan reddy as the VANPIC promoters made huge investments in Jagan companies for getting the favours from the Government.

The CBI asked Bhanu about the persons who took initiative to increase the land allotment to 28,000 acres for the project.

The CBI also wanted to know from Bhanu about the officials who pressurized the then Guntur and Prakasam district collectors to allot land to VANPIC promoters at rocket speed. Bhanu was also asked to clarify whether he had threatened the mining business man Mr Konda reddy to withdraw in favour of OMC owned by Gali Janardhan reddy.
