Power shut down does not deter a Dr. performing surgery

Was it a careless act or an act of presence of mind, but all is well when ends well. Incase something untoward happened who is responsible, what is the cost of the life under the knife.  These were the several questions that aroused in the minds of the media report on a doctor who allegedly performed seven family planning operations under light of mobile phone torch, as power went off during operations. The doctor of a government hospital in the Temple town, Dwaraka Tirumala of Andhra Pradesh, had admitted to the act.

Dr Stalin Prasad justified the act as power went off suddenly while performing the operations. But sources informed that the power would be back in half an hour time.  But significantly, the health condition of the women is fine, hospital doctors said.

The District Health and Medical Officer, Dr Padmaja reacted sharply for the irresponsible act by issuing a ''memo' to the doctor for performing operation in darkness.
