Kiran has numbers on his side, likely to sail through

Chief Minster Kirankumar Reddy has exuded unassailable confidence of sailing through the no- confidence motion introduced by the TDP in the winter session of the assembly. The assembly will vote on the no trust motion around 9 pm tonight.

With the congress high command pitch-forking the Rajya Sabha MP Mr KVP Ramachandra Rao for ensuring the defeat of the no confidence motion and numbers clearly favoring the congress government, chief minister Kirankumar reddy is all set to prove his majority on the floor of the house by defeating the no trust vote.

Though it is a foregone conclusion that Kirankumar will tide over the crisis, what will be known through the vote is the strength of the YSR congress party in the assembly.

With KVP jumping into the fray and managing afresh two members loyal to the YSR Congress party Chief Mr YS Jaganmohan reddy into the congress fold on Sunday, the numbers show the strength of the congress government.

While the mega star and PRP chief Chiranjeevi issued a whip to his 17 MLAs, 19 congress MLAs attended a meeting convened by Jagan on Sunday at his residence and vowed to support the no trust vote. After KVP’s intervention, two members again shifted loyalty by Sunday evening to the congress government.

The congress had 156 members in the assembly but with 17 MLAs declaring their allegiance to the Jagan camp, the congress strength will come down to 136.

However, 17 members of the PRP and 7 members of the Majlis have also announced their support to the Kiran Government. With this, the strength of the Congress would go up to 160. Added to this, an attached member and a nominated member are also bound to support the congress increasing its number to 162.

The numbers of the TDP, TRS and YSR congress and other opposition parties will only come to 124 when added together indicating the upper hand of the congress in managing the crisis. (JUBS)
