Even as more than 90 people were killed and several others injured in the fire that broke out in the AMRI hospital in South Kolkata on Friday, a minor fire was reported again in the hospital this afternoon, this time in its basement.
Fire engines, already stationed there, are busy extinguishing the second fire.
Meanwhile, the six directors of the hospital, who were arrested for the fire accident, were produced in a Kolkata court this after noon. A case of negligence has been registered against them.
Sources said the fire accident could have been avoided had the hospital authorities taken fire safety measures. Reports from Kolkata said that lawyers have decided not to represent the arrested directors in the court. (JUBS)
