Saroornagar police today arrested one person in connection with the murder of Mr M. Narayana reddy, 48, senior scientist at the National Academy of Agricultural Research Management (NAARM) in Hyderabad.

The scientist was found murdered by some unidentified persons at Maithripura of Saroornagar colony in Hyderabad on Thursday.

Police said that Mr Narayana Reddy, a resident of Kothapet, went to Maithripura where a house was under construction for his daughter who has been working in Bangalore. “The scientist also appointed a person as watch man to guard the construction activity but he ultimately turned out to be the killer,” said police.

“The watchman Satyanarayana told us that some unidentified assailants came to the spot with sharp weapons and attacked the scientist at the house killing him on the spot. The watchman said he tried to prevent the attack but the attackers also attacked him causing him injuries and fled the scene,” said police.

The police admitted him into a local hospital and started investigation. During the investigation, it was learnt that the watchman himself attacked the scientists with his friends leading to the murder.

“The watchman attacked the scientist for not giving a room to stay,” said police. Dr Narayana Reddy originally hailed from Tenali of Guntur district and has been working for the NAARM for several years. (JUBS)
