Akkineni Annapurna is dead

Akkineni Annapurna, 79, wife of the veteran Tollywood actor Akkineni Nageswara rao, passed away this morning after a prolonged illness.

Annapurna was discharged from the Care Hospital in Hyderabad only on Tuesday after she underwent treatment for some ailments and she breathed her last at her Jubilee Hills residence.

On hearing the news, Nagarjuna, son of Akkineni Nageswara rao, has rushed back from Bangalore where he was camping on a business trip. Nagarjuna’s brother Akkineni Venkat is also a known film producer.

Annapurna, born in Denduluru of West Godavari district in 1933, married Akkineni Nageswara rao on Feb 19, 1949 and the couple celebrated the diamond jubilee function of their marriage two years ago. The Akkineni couple had three daughters and two sons.

Akkineni Nageswara rao built a film studio and launched a production house and named both of them after his wife Annapurna.

CM, governor condole death of Annapurna

Chief Minster Kirankumar Reddy, Governor ESL Narasimhan, TDP Chief Chandrababu Naidu and several other politicians and ministers had condoled the death of Annapurna and expressed their sympathies to the bereaved family.

The big wigs of Tollywood have already reached the Akkineni house at Jubilee Hills and are consoling the veteran actor Nageswara rao over the loss of his life partner. (JUBS)
