
Suspended IAS officer Srilakshmi, accused in the illegal mining case involving the former Karnataka Minister Gali Janardhan reddy, surrendered before the special CBI court at Nampally in Hyderabad this evening.
The court remanded her to judicial custody till Jan 12 following which she was immediately shifted to the Chanchalguda jail. The court will hear on Jan 9 her petition seeking ‘A’ category prisoner status in the jail.
Srilakshmi’s surrender comes in the wake of the Supreme Court refusing to stay the AP High Court orders suspending her bail given by the special CBI court on Dec 2.
Responding to a CBI petition, the AP high court suspended her bail and ordered her to surrender before the special court by the evening of Jan 6. Srilakshmi challenged the High Court orders in the Supreme Court
While refusing the stay, the apex court adjourned till Jan 16 further hearing on the special leave petition filed by the suspended IAS officer. (JUBS)
