TDP MLC Narsa Reddy’s election set aside, cong candidate declared elected

The election of TDP MLC Mr Narsa Reddy from the local bodies’ constituency of Nizamabad district was set aside by the high court today. The court declared Mr Venkat Rami reddy of the congress elected as MLC by a margin of two votes.
The issue of the election of Narsa Reddy has become controversial with the defeated Congress candidate Venkat Rami reddy approaching High court and challenging the election result declared by the returning officer.
The High Court declared the election of Narsa Reddy as invalid and declared Venkat Rami Reddy as the winning candidate. However, Narsa Reddy approached the Supreme Court. The apex court directed him to settle the issue in the state high court only. It also directed the high court to call the counting officials and ensure the counting of votes in the presence of judges.
The counting of votes was taken up today in the presence of the judges who declared Narsa Reddy as the defeated candidate and Venkat Rami Reddy as the elected candidate. (JUBS)
