Solar flare to hit earth’s atmosphere

On Jan 22 Sunday, the US space agency NASA observed a strong geomagnetic and solar storm erupting on the northeastern hemisphere of the Sun and heading towards planet earth.

The strongest solar storm to erupt on the Sun in the last six years, the flare can cause unforeseen disturbances to the movement of satellites, aero planes, space ships, power grids, high frequency radio communications, GPS systems and high tech radars through its highly dangerous radiation being spread by its solar particles.

The NASA said the solar particles are on its way to the earth at a speed of 5 million miles an hour (2,000 km per second) and cause fluctuations in the earth’s magnetic field and gravitational pull.

The NASA has also advised the astronauts in space stations to guard themselves by limiting their movements to a particular arena in the space ships. The terrific solar storm, the biggest to erupt since 2005, is likely to hit the earth’s atmosphere in the next 24 hours. (JUBS)
