In a dastardly act, a class 9 student murdered a 40-year old lady teacher working in a private school in Chennai today.
Reports said the boy, Mohammed Irfan, attacked the teacher Umamaheswari with a knife when she was waiting in her class room alone for the students for commencing her fourth period of the day.
The boy suddenly entered the class room, slashed the science and Hindi teacher’s throat and stabbed her in the stomach. When she raised an alarm, students and teachers from the next rooms barged into the room and tried to take the teacher to a hospital. But she bled to death even before she was shifted to hospital for treatment.
The boy was later handed over to the police who are questioning him. The incident occurred around 11.30 am at the St. Mary's Anglo-Indian School located on the Armenian Street in Parry’s Corner.
Sources said the teacher, a mother of two children, had been working in the School for the last ten years and always maintained good relations with the students and teachers.
It is understood the boy had carried out the act in an angry mood after the teacher complained to his parents about his poor academic performance in the class. (JUBS)
