Israel car exploded in terror attack in Delhi

An Israeli Embassy car exploded and went up in flames near a petrol bunk in the VVIP area and at a stone’s throw away from the residence of the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh in Delhi today.

Following the blast, security agencies including elite SPG guarding the Prime Minister became alert and the entire area has been cordoned off.

Four persons, including a 42-year old woman diplomat were injured in the incident, reports said. The injured woman diplomat has been working in the Israel Embassy as an administrative officer.

Unconfirmed reports said that two unidentified men followed the Innova SUV car, bearing diplomatic number 109 CD 35 on their motorcycle and flung something on the car leading to the explosion and flare up of the vehicle.  Another car, parked nearby, was also severely damaged in the blast.

The injured have been rushed to a nearby hospital and sources said the Israel Embassy car was specifically targeted by terrorists.

There are reasons to believe it was a terrorist attack as an explosives-laden car was found near the Israeli Embassy in Georgia today. That device was defused by police.
