Disclosing this to newspersons in Hyderabad today, the South Central Railway officials said passengers can carry voter card, Pan card, Aadhaar Card, driving license, credit card, identity card given by an educational institution or any other identity card given by the state and central governments for the purpose of identity during their journey in AC coaches.

The ticket examiners will not accept Xerox copies of these cards and those passengers who do not carry original identity cards will be deemed to be travelling without tickets and fined as per the Railway rules, according to the officials.

The Railway officials said they have decided to implement the rule strictly to avoid malpractices in advance ticket booking and ticket blocking by agents. (JUBS)
