The Andhra Pradesh government since 1981 to 2009 has issued nearly 4839 acres of prime land, to private companies, free of cost, says the People’s Auditing Committee, at Vishakhapatnam, in its general meeting. The association questioned the government of severity of the issue neglected since sometime by the administration. They also asked, even for small trifle issues, the common man is pruned to hard punishments, why this negligence. The committee also said that they had collected the various relevant data in which 168 companies were issued the land. The same report was under scrutiny of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India. In November, 2010, the CAG instructed the revenue officials to ascertain the truths. But no report has been made from the state in this regards. If this issue comes up under the investigation scanner, another big land scam will emerge.
The PAC strongly condemned the state revenue officials for not making headway in this direction. The meeting which was presided by M L A Revuri Prakash Reddy was conducted in Vishakhapatnam on Wednesday. The committee demanded the Revenue officials to take immediate action on the report. The revenue officials present in the meeting agreed to give the adequate report in six weeks time, and later assured to deliver the same in three weeks. PAG Vani Sriram, CCLA Satyanarayana and Principal Secretary from the Revenue department, Anil P Punetha, also participated in the event. (With inputs from internet: AarKay)
