Gali wanted to fly to Bangalore, CBI takes him by road

The CBI officials today shifted the jailed former Karnataka Minister Gali Janardhan Reddy to Bangalore. He will be produced in the Bangalore CBI court tomorrow.

After the special CBI court at Nampally refused his request to take him to Bangalore by air, Janardhan reddy was taken to Bangalore by road by the CBI officials. One circle inspector, two sub inspectors and 8 constables are providing security to Janardhan reddy during the overnight journey to Bangalore.

The escort police party took over his security responsibility from the main gates of the Chanchalguda jail where he has been lodged after his arrest on September 5 last year.

Bangalore wing of the CBI had registered cases against Jarnardhan reddy, his wife Aruna Lakshmi and 20 others for committing illegalities in the Associated Mining Company. The Hyderabad wing of the CBI agreed to the request of the Bangalore CBI to take him to Bangalore to produce him in the court.

Gali wanted to travel by air to Bangalore

Gali Janardhan reddy earlier filed a petition in the special court seeking directions to the CBI to take him to Bangalore by a special helicopter as he feared threat to his life if taken by a car.

“Please direct the CBI to fly me to Bangalore by a special helicopter. I will bear all the expenses of the special helicopter and also that of the escort helicopter. I fear threat to my life if I am taken by road,” he prayed.

Rejecting his plea, special judge Nagamaruthi Sarma directed the CBI to take him to Bangalore as per the rules. (J)
