Janata party president Dr Subramanyam Swamy said today India should be divided into 50 smaller states and the process should begin with the formation of Telangana state.
Addressing Telangana advocates on the issue of separate state in Hyderabad, Dr Swamy demanded the Centre to declare Telangana immediately.
“What is the wrong if we have two Telugu states when there are eight Hindi speaking states?” he asked. Assuring the Telangana lawyers that he would take up the fight on their behalf for achieving the Telangana state, Dr Swamy, also a former professor at the Harvard University, asked them to send him the details regarding the Telangana issue.
“If you send all the details, I will file a petition in the state high court on the fraud committed by the Centre on the issue of Telangana,” he told them.
Dr Swamy squarely blamed Union Home Minister Chidambaram for the Telangana fiasco and said, “Chidambaram should be put behind bars in the Chanchalguda jail for his faux pas on Telangana and going back on his promise.” (J)
