In new academic year there will be more seats for B.Tech and more over there will be a more fees for the students who are taking a look to the state’s engineering colleges.Well disregarding the state government’s request, For 2012-13 All India Council for Technical Education has given the green light for extra 50,000 B.Tech seats. So these seats were added to the current 500-odd colleges, with only four new colleges accepted.
While the number of B.Tech seats crossed 3.6 lakh in the state’s 720-odd engineering colleges with this, Eamcet officials have received 2.92 lakh applications for admission so far this year. Meanwhile, the state government is likely to raise the annual fees from Rs 31,000 to Rs 38,000. But this, officials said, will be a common fee for all, unlike Rs 31,000 as fee for convenor quota (70 per cent seats) and Rs 95,000 currently charged for admission to the remaining seats under management quota.
The government had earlier invited fresh fee proposals from the colleges, and managements of many colleges sought a hike up to Rs 55,000. The government is learnt to have settled for Rs 38,000 and is likely to submit an affidavit in the Supreme Court to this effect soon.
According to the sources the government can take care of of the whole fees for only SCs and STs, At the same time for those who are from BC, EBC and minority categories they will be given an amount of Rs 20,000 only and the rest of the amount they have pay.
