Kadapa MP and YSR Congress president Jaganmohan Reddy is in Chanchalguda Jail as CBI Court on Monday remanded him to judicial custody till June 11. He is the prime accused in the illegal assets case. Chanchalguda Jail in Hyderabad earlier lodge high profile personalities including B Ramalinga Raju, Gali Janardhan Reddy and IAS officer Y Srilakshmi.
The 40year-old MP became the richest parliamentarian in the country with Rs. 365 crore. When CBI arrested Jaganmohan Reddy there was a little tense situation in many parts of the state excluding Hyderabad. However, no untoward incident took place as the there was strict policing.
CBI produced Jaganmohan Reddy on Monday morning before the Principal Judge of CBI Court A Pullaiah. It has sought 14 days of custody as it wanted more information from Jaganmohan Reddy. The counsel who argued on behalf of CBI was Ashok Bhan. Mr. Bhan had said that Jagan didn’t cooperate with the investigation for consecutive three days. He has also said they (CBI) would show the people about his irregularities.
Meanwhile, Jaganmohan Reddy’s counsels, who argued that the arrest was improper, have move the bail petition. The court not only turned down the bail plea of Jagan but also custody petition filed by CBI. Jagan was remanded to Chanchalguda Jail under CrPC Sec 309.
