As many as seven pontiffs belonging to Kurthalam, Keesarigutta, Saraswathi Vidhya, Bhuvaneshwari, Madhavananda Saraswati and other two peetams have sought the blessings of Goddess Sarawati in Basara Temple this morning. The day gained significance as seven holy persons came together and offered special prayers at sanctum sanctorum. They were invited by the temple authorities with a poorna kumbham.

The seven pontiffs are going to take part in the maha padayatra, aimed at preserving Hindu culture, which would be kick starting from Basara today. This yatra is being conducted under the aegis of Hindu Devalaya Parirakshana Samithi (a special association to safeguard the temples).
