One Mohammed Pehelwan, who has been put behind bars under judicial custody, in connection with the murder attempt of MIM MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi has approached the Supreme Court for a bail. The Supreme Court, which has responded on the petition filed by Mohammed Pehelwan has sought a response from the Andhra Pradesh Government within three weeks.
It may be recalled that miscreants allegedlly stabbed Akbaruddin Owaisi, who was pitching his voice against land grabbing, in broad day light in Hyderabad on April 30, 2011. Owaisi was seriously injured but recovered soon. On the same day, the key suspect in the case, Mohammed Pehelwan was arrested. He was, however, granted bail later.
The High Court recently set aside Mohammed Pehelwan's bail petition and he had surrendered before the court.
