 PAC to tour Vizag dist

The Public Accounts Committee has decided to tour Vishakapatnam district on July 24 and 25. The PAC, which met today to discuss the allotment of lands, decided to inspect land allotted Hinduja Power Plant and other land allocations in Vizag district. It may be noted that a probe was ordered into land allotment of National Hinduja Power Corporation Limited as the company has failed to set up the plant even after 10 years of land allotment by the state government.

It may be recalled that Andhra Pradesh Government entered into a pact with Hinduja Power Coportation Limited on April 15, 1998. Accordingly, the state government allotted 454 acres of land at Dewada village in Vishakapatnam district for setting up a coal-based thermal power plant. While the deal was fixed at Rs. 26.63 crore, the company paid just Rs. 16.42 crore. The agreement also stated that the project should be accomplished within 44 months.
