The High Court has served notices on Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) acting on a public interest litigation (PIL) filed by an individual alleging that RTC was running buses without adhering to the norms of the pollution check. The petitioner has further alleged that as per the norms of Central Pollution Control Board, RTC was supposed to run Bharat stage IV buses especially in Hyderabad and Secunderabad but it was not maintaining the same.
The petitioner has also mentioned that the registration of such vehicles were done at places other than Hyderabad that maintain low pollution standards. The same buses were run in the city, which spoiled the health of the twin city people, added petitioner. The Chief Justice of High Court, Justice Pinakini Chandra Ghosh, who heard the petition, has served summons on the concerned authorities and deferred the hearing to four weeks.
