Let us blame ourselves

The chairperson of the newly constituted National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR), Shanta Sinha has spoken about the child rights in the wake of child rights day today. The programme, which was organized at RTC Kala Bhavan in Hyderabad today focussed on the day to day problems being faced by the children. Addressing the same, Ms Shanta Sinha has expressed the degrading girl rights in the country. She said the situation has come to such an extent that unless and until a movement comes out, the situation in the country would not be altered.  Further, she stressed that the governments should give due importance to the opinions of the girls before making legislation for protecting them.

Also, she said that girls aged between 14 and 18 were facing acute problems by not getting proper clothes, accommodation, basic amenities and elementary education. It is the duty of each and every citizen—not to think about their good self—but even about the poor girls and other children and their situation in the country. How long the governments will be blamed? Can't we take the initiative and change things? Can't we mobilize whatever the amount (may be a pinch of what you earn) we have and contribute towards their uplifting. The change has to come within us because it is we who are in the system and we who take forward the running system.
