Odisha ex law minister Raghunath Mohanty's son Rajashri was arrested today. Rajashri and his family members were accused in the complaint filed by his wife Barsha Swony Chowdhery in dowry harassment case. She charged that her husband and other family members were torturing her since their marriage in June 2012.
Raghunath Mohanty already resigned from his position as the law minister on Friday, stating that it was done on moral grounds although his family was not guilty. He was elected five times for the State Assembly from the constituency of Basta in the District of Balasore in Odisha.
As the public demand and opposition parties’ out cry has compelled, Rajashri Mohanty was arrested and taken to the human rights cell of the State police department. He is likely to be produced in the court today.
The incident triggered state wide protests against Mohanty family.
