Sanjay Dutt has to surrender

The petition filed to review the verdict on the case of 1993 Mumbai blasts and alleged involvement of Hindi actor Sanjay Dutt in it was rejected by Supreme Court today.

The bench of Justice P.Sathasivam and Justice B.S.Chauhan gave their judgment on 21st March 2013 sentencing jail to Sanjay Dutt for a period of 5 years.  Sanjay Dutt’s plea to review the case was turned down by the bench today.

In fact SC reduced the jail sentence from 6 awarded by TADA Court to 5 years.  As Sanjay Dutt already spent one and half years in the jail as under trial, now only three and half years sentence is left.  But because of his commitments in the films, he tried to get some relief by filing the review petition.  Still one more choice is left for him.  That is curative petition.  Supreme Court also rejected similar petitions filed by 6 more convicts in the case.

Now as per the present situation, Sanjay Dutt has no other go but to surrender on May 16th.
