A Dhwaja Stambham of Kesava Swamy temple in the village of Duvva, Tanuku Mandal in West Godavari District fell down last night.
Priests of the temple say that the the Dhwaja Stambham of the temple happended to fall due to strong winds blown in the night.
Dhwaja Stambham made of a single wood with metal covering is a flag mast in front of the sanctum sanctorum of a Hindu Temple which is treated as a sacred one. It is also revered as the deity by touching it with devotion on temple visit by the devotees.
Some time ago a Dhwaja Stambham at the Panharama Kshetram at Palakol in West Godavari District collapsed and at the time of erection of a new one in its place revealed some hidden treasure in it.
