The State Government identified 176 un-recognized schools that are functioning in Rangareddy District and issued notices to them to close down the business immediately. Because of lack of Government schools the un-recognized schools mushroomed in the Urban Mandals of the District. A penalty of Rs. One lakh is levied on the un-recognized schools for conducting the business without permission. The schools also were threatened of seizure in case the penalty is not paid.
The commercial activity in the schools like selling of bags, shoes etc are banned by the Government. It is said that surprise check will be conducted from time to time by the Education Department and heavy penalties will be levied on the violators as it is against the Right to Education (RTE) Act.
School Fees also will be controlled by the State Government. Exorbitant fees and extra fees under the guise of some other accounts collected from the students will be checked.
The Education Department is also taking up a drive to strengthen the Government Schools with students. Expenses of the schools will be curtailed to keep the fees structure moderate.
All these exercises are aimed at stepping up the students' strength in the Government Schools. But as it is evident, the officers concern failed in swift movement to implement the idea. The Education Department is still making plans where as the private schools already opened admissions.
