The Priest of famous Kedarnath Temple Dinesh Bhagwadi narrated the devastation scene he saw to the media representatives.
He said that the rain on 16th turned into heavy down pour and on that fateful night at about 8.15 there was a commotion and distress calls and the news came that the temple was flooded. He witnessed the water height increasing in minutes of time.
The priest along with 200 others was at a height of 14 feet at that time that saved them. He said that he saw not less than 500 people dying in the swollen waters. He estimates that a total of 4000 might have lost lives. He lost track of five of his own family members. Still, he says, their whereabouts are not known.
